Massage therapy is an important part of incorporating health and wellness into your life.

It reduces or eliminates pain, improves joint mobility as well as circulation throughout the body, and helps your immune system functions more efficiently.

Massage therapy can benefit everyone whether you need a relaxation treatment or relief from tension and chronic pain, a therapeutic massage can improve your overall emotional and physical well-being. It can aid in reducing depression, anxiety and tension within your muscles giving you an overall awareness of how your body is feeling. With this awareness, it makes it possible to assist you in the reduction of injury when you place abnormal or repetitive stressors on your body.

Dr. Mackay completed her Bachelor of Science at Acadia University in 1996, then graduated from Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in 2001. Erin was chosen and awarded the prestigious Herbert K. Lee award for highest excellence in academic, clinical and altruistic endeavors.

She has worked in and around Halifax since 2001 starting her career with Dr. Brian Seaman for 5 years who is one of the chiropractors who travels with and treats the Canadian Olympic athletes, as well as in two integrated clinics alongside medical doctors, physiotherapists, massage therapists and psychologists. She has a great appreciation for the roles of each health care provider.

Her goal is for her patients to lead healthy and active lives and she enjoys participating in achieving this goal. Her practice philosophy follows the medical model with the aim to create a balance between the musculoskeletal and neural structures to allow every patient to function at their highest.

Outside of the clinic setting, she enjoys being active with running, hiking, and skiing, taking advantage of all the great outdoors has to offer, She likes being an active member of the community and is kept busy with a family that likes to keep active as well. Margaret (Peg) McMartin, MT –

Peg received her diploma from ICT Northumberland College and has been a practicing massage therapist in Halifax since 2000. She is an active member in good standing and volunteer for the Massage Therapists’ Association of Nova Scotia (MTANS). She is the current Chair of the Conference Committee and a member the Regulation Committee.

She blends a variety of Swedish Massage, Craniosacral Therapy, and Suidoko techniques into her balanced treatment approach. She welcomes the challenge of assisting her clients to maintain a healthy approach to their self care.

Peg joined the faculty of CCMH Halifax in 2005 and is an Instructor and a Clinic Supervisor in the CCMH Student Intern Clinic. An advocate for volunteerism, Peg has provided volunteer massage experiences at the Queen Elizabeth II Health Science Centre, Sunshine Room, for ten years. As well she has participated in various sporting events held in Halifax as both a massage therapist and volunteer.

Katherine holds a double major in Psychology & Women’s Studies from Acadia University, completed in 2005. A few years later, she changed paths and began studying at the Canadian College of Massage & Hydrotherapy (CCMH). She graduated in 2012 with honours standing and an award from the Massage Therapists’ Association of Nova Scotia for her professionalism and patient care. The following spring 2013, Katherine completed birth doula training through DONA International with the Chebucto Family Centre and spent the coming years deepening her massage skills while also supporting families through birth and early postpartum in the Halifax area.

Katherine also works with the Canadian College of Massage & Hydrotherapy in the roles of Lead Instructor, Teaching Assistant & Clinic Supervisor. She teaches students in coursework related to: hands on clinical skills, specialized pregnancy/postpartum training and clinical assessment.

Katherine has a passion for supporting individual and family health and wellness.

Gisella Vera S. RMT

Gisella is a member in good standing with the Massage Therapists Association of Nova Scotia (MTANS). She is also member of the Canadian Reiki Association (CRA) as a Reiki Practitioner Level 1 (Shoden) & Level 2 (Okuden). She graduated from the Canadian College of Massage & Hydrotherapy (CCMH)

Gisella has continued to develop her skill set to include: Swedish Massage, Indian Head Massage, Myofascial Release, Hydrotherapy, TMJ Dysfunction (jaw massage), Cupping Massage, Trigger Points, Psoas & Diaphragm Treatment, Hot (Jade) Stone Massage, Remedial Exercises, Massage & Paliative Care.

All these training and knowledge enables her to treat different conditions from acute like strains/sprains to chronic and/or neurological issues (Scoliosis, MS, Fibromyalgia, etc.)
